Anjamena

The forests of Anjamena are located along the banks of the Mahavavy River, southwest of Katsepy in northwestern Madagascar. These forests offer visitors an opportunity to see the mongoose lemur (Eulemur mongoz) and crowned sifaka (Propithecus coronatus), but access is limited to the dry season and virtually impossible during January or February. Getting to and from the Mahavavy River Delta requires expedition-level preparation, but well-organized trips are now being offered by a small number of international tour operators, largely for the area’s birdlife. Recent reports indicate that substantial numbers of lemurs are also observed during these trips.
