Anjozorobe-Angavo Protected Area ***

Located 85 km north of Antananarivo, or about two hours by car, the Anjozorobe-Angavo forest corridor was recently incorporated into a 53,000-ha Protected Area. It is ideal for seeing black indri (Indri indri) and diademed sifaka (Propithecus diadema), as well as other species such as Goodman’s mouse lemur (Microcebus lehilahytsara). There are two comfortable lodges some 10 km from Anjozorobe town, Saha Forest Camp in Andreba, which offers a unique view to the forests and lemurs, and the Mananara Lodge, located in Amboasary An’ ala. The Saha Forest Camp at Anjozorobe-Angavo is managed by the Malagasy non-governmental organization, Association Fanamby, and has 10 comfortable bungalows right next to a primary forest. There is also a restaurant that serves various dishes cooked with local produce. More information can be found at www.sahaforestcamp.org.
