Kasijy Special Reserve

This small reserve in west-central Madagascar covers roughly 19,800 ha, of which only a small portion is actually forest. Access is a major problem since the road system is almost non-existent between the reserve and Ambato Boeny, and what does exist is not maintained. Furthermore, there are no accommodations in the vicinity of the reserve. Nevertheless, it does offer opportunities to see the gray mouse lemur (Microcebus murinus), the red-tailed sportive lemur (Lepilemur ruficaudatus), the northern bamboo lemur (Hapalemur occidentalis), the rufous brown lemur (Eulemur rufus), Decken’s sifaka (Propithecus deckenii), and possibly the crowned sifaka (Propithecus coronatus).
